Welcome to the official webpage of

Sharing Circle
of The King's Daughters

Our Circle meets on the 2nd Wednesday of each month at 10:00am.  We are based out of the Larchmont area of Norfolk.  We have approximately 15 members in our Circle age 50yrs and up.

Circle History:

Sharing Circle affiliated with the Norfolk City Union of The King’s Daughters, Inc. in 1966.  We had a maximum of 30 active members and an unlimited number of inactive, dues-paying only, members.  Our members ranged in age from mid-thirties to the sixties and all lived in Norfolk.  We met on the 2nd Monday of the month, September through June at 10:00 a.m. in members’ homes.

Our major fundraising project was the “love package” for Virginia Wesleyan College students.  We contacted parents of students living on campus by mail of our offer, for a fee, to deliver a gift package of homemade goodies and snack items, along with a personal message from the parents, to their student on Valentine’s Day.  All members participated.  The project ended in 2003 after 27 successful years.  Thereafter, each member donated a cash “love gift”  to replace the profits of the “love gift” project.

We had a social occasion for members at least once a year as well as an on-going Christmas auction luncheon with boutique items and homemade goodies donated by members with the profits given to the hospital.

In addition, we held workshops throughout the year to work on items to support the Holly Festival of Trees and donated time to participate in requested volunteer areas.

Members served many hours fulfilling requested needs of the volunteer office for in-hospital services.  Our members served on project boards throughout the years as well as the NCUKD Board of Directors.

As we participate in our 44th year of involvement as an active adult Circle of The King’s Daughters, we find ourselves a mixed lot of wives, widows, mothers, grandmothers, great-grandmothers, working women, and homemakers.  Death has taken several of our members, physical disabilities and illnesses pose regular problems for our active membership of eleven with four on our inactive list.  We maintain our devotion to CHKD and attempt to share of our time and talents to the best of our abilities.
