2,600 RunWalk for the Kids |

We want to express our gratitude to everyone who participated in the events on Saturday. More than 2,600 runners and walkers registered this year, which represented a 52 percent increase from 2008. We had more teams, more individual runners, more walkers and more children in the Fun Run.
This incredible outpouring of community support raised more than $80,000 for Children's Hospital of The King's Daughters. This money will support unique services like CHKD’s child abuse program. It will help the hospital purchase new equipment and offset the cost of providing care to our community’s neediest children.
We also want to thank all the volunteers and sponsors who helped The King's Daughters plan this event. From the race coordinators to the registration tents to the food booths to the water stations, volunteers were everywhere. They unselfishly donated their time to the RunWalk’s success. In addition, our sponsors: NY Life and Wavy TV 10 were very generous with their support. This event was truly a community-wide event.
We are also grateful for the feedback you’ve given us on ways we can improve our run in the future. While our event was organized by people who have a great deal of experience running road races, we also need - and value greatly - your input as we move forward and try to build this event into the best it can be for you. So, as we begin planning of the 2010 RunWalk for the Kids, we will be carefully considering every aspect of the day, from venue and course details to parking and traffic, always keeping the safety and enjoyment of our runners and walkers as our top consideration. We will be sure to keep you informed of our plans and look forward to seeing you again in 2010.
