Norfolk, VA. June 1, 2007. The Norfolk City Union of The King's
Daughters, the founding organization of CHKD, elected Katie Van Buren President of the Board of Directors at their June Meeting. Van Buren will succeed Nancy Nusbaum who has been president since 2004. Katie says that Nancy, "is handing over the reins of a well-run organization. She was an outstanding president who personified our mission of raising friends and funds for CHKD, bringing 500 new members to the organization and leading us to record-breaking donations to the hospital. This year's donation was $850,000, our largest ever."
Van Buren is a graduate of Old Dominion University and the Medical College of Virginia. She is a pediatric nurse practitioner who was one of CHKD's first summer nurse externs. She lives in Norfolk with her husband, attorney Bill Van Buren and has three children: Megan, 20; Kaitlin, 18; and Billy, 14.
